We are ending the year 2025 the way we started it, distributing food, water and warm clothing to the unhoused homeless at warming stations, parks and camps. It’s our mission. It’s what we do, and we’ve been doing it for over eight full years.
Looking back over the past twelve months, we saw many good things happening, people getting off the streets and into affordable housing, people getting much-needed substance abuse treatment, and more elements of society stepping up to help. This was a very good. thing for our homeless community.
Sadly, some of our unhoused friends passed away, people that we’d known for years and cared for, some of natural causes, others from overdoses. It was difficult to see.
Living homeless on the streets with no food, no place to go to the bathroom, trying to survive the elements is hard enough. But there’s always that threat of violence and criminal behavior behind you, in front of you, above you or beside you. It puts the unhoused in a constant state of traumatic stress. We see it. We know that there is little normalcy or peace living unhoused. Shepherd’s Way does its best to help people to find a better life.
Our calls for donations brought tremendous responses from individuals and corporate donors such as Town Fair Tire, Bombas Socks, and Sackcloth and Ashes Blanket Company. It allowed us to expand our programming and to help many more people than we thought we could when we started out in January. We are so very grateful to have such wonderful support. Thank you.
As we close out the year, we want to wish all of you who followed us on our journey a Happy Holiday Season and a prosperous New Year.
