Challenging outreach this morning. Hit the usual spots: Parks, entry ways to closed businesses, inconspicuous places near Canal Street, near railroad tracks, bridges. As usual, forces are scattering the unhoused. (((((Folks – these are human beings, not cattle)))).
It’s always good to see and hear that other groups either established charitable organizations, church groups, or others are out there helping. God Bless Them…
What’s not so good is to see active substance misuse, people injured from assaults, falling down, getting burned, etc. But it is part of it! We’re seeing some of society’s most vulnerable.
Sad that there is so little leadership in the places where people could really make a difference – (government, especially). Nothing is going to change until the will at the top is there to do something about it!!!
