When we first started Shepherd’s Way eight years ago, we made contacts up in the White Mountains and over in Maine in Franklin, Somerset and York counties. And we still keep in touch.
There have been times when we’ve had surpluses of clothes that we’ve shared with outreaches in Maine because the Greater Manchester Area (our primary area of focus) has been all set. The unhoused in Northwestern Maine are struggling mightily right now.
We just got word that a 40-person shelter up in Skowhegan was shut down because the building was condemned. Some people up there are trying to help, and they’ve asked us to help out.
We’ve got a lot of socks and we’re going to get them up there this weekend.
