Whether you’re doing outreach in Portland, Oregon, Boston, Mass, or Manchester, NH, places where we’ve been there and done that, you just might encounter every version of humanity.
In a single outing you might meet:
– Someone newly homeless
– Someone who’s been outside 20+ years
– Someone fleeing violence
– Someone in active psychosis
– One who just wants socks and otherwise wants to be left alone.
The emotional range can be huge. But there is one constant that remains at all times. These people remember who treated them like a human being.
A pair of gloves, a warm drink, just remembering someone’s name can mean so much to someone fighting the challenges of being homeless and living on the streets.
