Acts of compassion can save lives.
Listening without judgment and supporting others through their struggles helps to rekindle a sense of self-worth in people who may have lost it but need it the most. It shows the chronically homeless and addicted that others no matter what care about them and value them as human beings.
People who live on the streets exist in a state of constant trauma and they need to be uplifted rather than torn down. They need calm rather than chaos.
Helping to put a smile on a broken soul, on someone who has lost their way can be good medicine – not just for them, but for you, as well. 🙂
